"I'm like a capsized duck."
―Martin

Yverdon-les-Bains is the sixth episode of the fourth series of the BBC's Cabin Pressure, which was first broadcast on February 13, 2013.

Synopsis[]

Official synopsis for the episode Yverdon-les-Bains:[1]

Love is in the air as Douglas and Herc fight it out over the fruit tray, and hope springs eternal as Martin has the interview of his life.

Plot[]

Martin receives an interview offer from Swiss Airways; Douglas, Carolyn, and Arthur see him off with encouraging words.

Martin is awkward and stumbling at the interview with Captain Deroche. After CEO Oskar Bider arrives to sit in on the interview, it transpires that Swiss Airways are only interested in finding out how Martin "cheated" on his technical knowledge exam. Martin insists, and demonstrates, that he achieved a 100% score by simply memorising the book. Satisfied, Oskar goes to leave, but Martin convinces him to stay for the end of the interview.

Meanwhile, Herc is filling in as Captain on a trip, much to Douglas' chagrin. While Arthur discovers an allergy to dragonfruit, Douglas becomes more and more antagonised by Herc's presence, eventually declaring himself "Supreme Commander"; horrified, he realises he is seeing the world through Martin's eyes.

Despite Martin's poor interview, Oskar is impressed by his rule-adhering attitude and his getting Oskar to stay and offers him the job on-the-spot. When Arthur meets Martin at the airport, however, Martin is overcome with indecision, knowing that his accepting the offer will mean the end of MJN. He only tells Arthur that they'll "let [him] know".
